[monuments]
Monuments are part of our memorial culture: building, statues or objects in the city, in the park, in passing; they enshrine political, social and economics power structures in the urban space. They embody the official history and hide other narratives and perspectives. On our [monuments] field trip they arouse suspicion, raise issues and generates anger. We work as detectives, designers and architects, image stormers, inventors and performers. We think it is important, to notice, to question and to challenge monuments.
Who decide, what we should be reminded of? Can we believe in the truth of monuments? How can we integrate monumental objects in the public life? How do we react to a forgotten past? How do we deal with colonialism? All research and ongoing processes are documented in the [monuments] publication and finds fluid forms for the past.
