Intervention in the public space with students from Nelson Mandela School in Tanzania Park on July 6, 2025
What does postcolonial memory sound like when young people tell their stories?
On July 6, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., students from the Nelson Mandela School cordially invite you to a special action day in Tanzania Park—a place where colonial and Nazi history converge.
On this day, the park will become an open space for encounters, exchange, and new perspectives:
Young people will present their thoughts and contributions on history and identity – interactive stations, audio recordings, and mini-exhibitions invite visitors to linger, reflect, and discuss.
“Old history(ies), new approaches” stands for a memory that is anchored in the present – shaped by the perspectives of young people whose experiences with migration, racism, and social belonging have often been missing until now.
Young people are affected by social power structures and inequalities, but are rarely asked how they experience this.
The action day enables a change of perspective: here, their point of view is considered expertise.
All interested parties are cordially invited to watch, listen, and join in the discussion!
The action day is both an invitation and an impetus – for everyone interested in history, society, and the future.
